Wherever they’re stuck - recognizing letters, sounding out words, or understanding what they’ve read -
Reading Accelerator meets them there, in one of three age-based groups.
Ages 3-4 - Phonics and letter sounds
- Your child is beginning to notice letters but doesn’t consistently recognize them. - They have trouble connecting letters with the sounds they make. - They enjoy stories but resist activities involving letters or sounds. - You want them to build strong early reading skills, without pressure.
Ages 4-6 - Letter sounds and decoding
- Your child knows some letters and sounds but struggles to put them together. - They guess at unfamiliar words instead of sounding them out. - Reading aloud feels slow, frustrating, or overwhelming. - They avoid reading, or say they’re “not good at it.” - You want them to read more independently, with confident
Ages 7-10 - Reading comprehension
- Your child can read the words but can’t explain what happened. - They struggle to answer “why” and “how” questions about a story. - They have trouble with the main idea, key details, or predictions. - When you ask what they read, the answer is often “I don’t know.” - You want them to understand what they read, not just get through it.
Your child doesn’t need a diagnosis to benefit. They may simply need focused instruction, a smaller group, and an approach that meets them where they are.
This isn’t tutoring
Every class starts with a baseline assessment to find exactly where your child is - the skills they’ve mastered, and the point where things get shaky. From there we build a roadmap to close the gaps, keep the skills they’ve earned in rotation, and track progress so the teaching adjusts to your child, not the other way around.
Our approach draws on proven methods - Orton-Gillingham, Words Their Way, Reading Readiness, and Reading A-Z - alongside supplemental activities our team designs for each child.
