HEALTHY LIFESTYLE: 7 Small Things You Can Do This Weekend to Be Healthier

T.G.I.F.! The weekend is finally here–along with all the temptations that weekends usually bring. Whether you are kicking up your feet to relax, or planning for a busy 48 hours, weekends often break up or alter daily routines. This inconsistency in routine can sometimes be unhealthy and lead to a slower or worse transition into the following week. Luckily, COMPASS is here to supply some health tips to keep in mind as you enjoy your weekend!

1. ALWAYS remember that H2O.

Keep a water bottle with your wherever you are going. Staying hydrated is one of the healthiest decision you can make for yourself.

2. Enjoy fresh air when you can.

Walk your dog, take advantage of warmer times of the day, maybe jog a few laps around the park! Though the weather may not be perfect this time of year, that doesn’t mean we should hibernate.

3. Find little ways to stay active during the day.

Take the stairs instead of the elevator, do a quick ab workout while you’re watching TV, try to squeeze in a real workout at least one of the days of the weekend!

4. Make sure you're getting enough sleep!

Try to stick to your normal sleep schedule. Go to bed at a reasonable time and set an alarm to make the most out of your mornings!

5. Plan out when your meals are going to be.

If you have plans to be places at certain times, try and figure out when you will be eating and where. If you are going to be out when you usually eat lunch, consider bringing your own food rather than dining out.

6. Don’t forget your fruits and veggies!

I hate to say it, but “calories don’t count on weekends” is actually a myth. Shoot for those more nutritious meals to keep your body more energized. For some healthy meal ideas, check out our other Healthy Lifestyle Blogs here.

7. Take some time for yourself.

This is always important. Giving yourself some down time to reflect on your week and look forward to the following week will help you stay on track with your own goals.
